Rubin Museum of Art

Located in the Chelsea neighborhood, the museum is known for its galleries dedicated to the Himalayan art. Particularly notable is its Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room where visitors can have an immersive experience of a traditional buddhist shrine.

Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art

Founded by Jacques Marchais, the museum resembles a Tibetan monastery and is the first museum solely devoted to Tibetan art. The museum is home to Tibetan Buddhism artifacts from various regions including Nepal, Mongolia, Bhutan, and Northern China. Also known for being praised by the Dalai Lama in 1991 when he visited the museum.

Newark Museum

The Newark Museum also hosts Tibetan art collection with over 5,000 objects -- from paintings to documentary photographs.

Tibet House US

Founded at the request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama under its mission to preserve Tibet's unique culture, Tibet House US hosts collections, such as Old Tibet Photographic Archive and Repatriation Collection. It also regularly hosts lunch-time meditation events on Tuesdays and Thursdays led by Nalanda Institute faculty.

The Met

The Met currently has an ongoing exhibition titled, "Arts of Nepal and Tibet Recent Gifts," until Jan 15, 2017. Some notable pieces are 13th century bronze Vajravarahi and 12th century Tibetan bronze Padmapani.
